Buckwheat is an annual herb which is native to Asia. It has alternate leaves and small, white, fragrant flowers in the summer. Buckwheat is very attractive to bees. This plant is grown in North America primarily as a "green manure," plowed under when they are 10 inches high. Buckwheat is also grown for its seeds from which a flour is made.
